Mirek:
My Polish Friend
Mirek was the Polish man who lived at The Avalanche Hotel in Courtenay, BC.
Despite his hardships, he remained a generous man, with a somewhat morbid sense of humour.
His only sister, Alina, died on the 18th of May, 2015, and this left him deeply depressed.
Many of Mirek’s possessions were his sisters, including the photograph, taken by her, of the chicken and the cat.
In the weeks leading up to my departure he offered me his hand in marriage in exchange for good friendship, forever.
