Mirek is the Polish man who lives at The Avalanche Hotel in Courtenay, BC. Despite his hardships, he remains a generous man, with a somewhat morbid sense of humour.

His only sister, Alina, died on the 18th of May, 2015, and this left him deeply depressed, "a drunken man". In the weeks leading up to my departure, he offered me his hand in marriage in exchange for good friendship, forever.
